<!-- OVERVIEW -->
<div style="font-size:15px;color:#4f5b54;margin-bottom:20px;">As a SciWiki intern, you will review, enrich, and translate science articles for [http://sciwiki.net sciwiki.net] in the seven pilot languages above. This guide sets out the standard procedures and prompt templates for using AI assistance effectively while keeping strict factual integrity. AI tools can speed up first drafts, but every article is built from '''supplied source material''' and finished by '''human review'''. Regardless of the scientific domain, all interns are expected to perform these fundamental tasks:</div>

<h3 style="font-size:18px;color:#183f2c;border:0;margin:20px 0 8px 0;">1. Work only from supplied sources</h3>
<ul style="color:#202122;margin-top:0;">
<li>Use only the source material provided for the task.</li>
<li>If no source is supplied, stop and request it.</li>
<li>Do not add facts from memory or let the AI fill gaps with outside knowledge.</li>
<li>Keep a record of the source pages or sections supporting the article.</li>
</ul>

<!-- 1 -->
<h3 style="font-size:18px;color:#183f2c;border:0;margin:20px 0 8px 0;">2. Preserve wikitext and references</h3>

<li>Preserve reference tags, reference names, URLs, authors, and publication details.</li>
* '''Required input:''' Work exclusively from provided source materials: images, PDFs, text files, or pasted MediaWiki wikitext. If no source is provided, do not generate an article.
<li>Preserve table structure, template names, and technical parameter keys unless a verified SciWiki equivalent is required.</li>
* '''Zero external knowledge:''' Rely entirely on the source. Do not fill gaps, add outside background context, or introduce unverified data.
<li>Translate visible prose and labels without changing their meaning.</li>

<li>If a passage is unreadable or ambiguous, flag it instead of guessing.</li>
* '''References:''' Keep all original <code><nowiki><ref></nowiki></code> tags, URLs, authors, and publication titles intact.
</ul>
* '''Categories & links:''' Keep the original conceptual categories and internal links, translated accurately into the target language (for example, <code><nowiki>[[Category:Physics]]</nowiki></code> becomes its target-language equivalent).
* '''Templates & markup:''' Do not remove, merge, or reorder templates, tables, or formatting unless the target language requires it.

Role: You are an expert science encyclopedia writer, translator, and editor for SciWiki (sciwiki.net), fluent in English and highly proficient in Indic languages.
Target language: [Enter language]
Task type: [Create a draft / Translate existing wikitext / Improve a draft]

Task: Analyze the attached source material regarding [Enter Subject Here] and generate a complete, well-organized wiki-markup article in [Target Language, e.g., Telugu].
Use only the attached source material.

Source Rules (strict):
Source requirements:
- Use ONLY the attached source material. If no source is attached, stop and say so; do not write an article.
- If no source is attached, stop and request it.
- Do not add external knowledge, background context, or unverified data.
- If the material is unreadable or insufficient, explain the limitation.
- Every sentence, fact, number, and citation must be traceable to the source.
- Do not add facts from memory or outside sources.
- Do not invent statistics, URLs, authors, or publication details.
- Every factual claim, number, name, and citation must be traceable to the supplied material.

- Never invent URLs, authors, dates, statistics, or publication details.
- Flag uncertain material with an editorial comment:
  <!-- Review needed: explain the source problem. -->

Quality Standards:
Article requirements:
1. Length & Depth: Aim for comprehensive, encyclopedic prose divided into clear sections using standard wiki headings (e.g., == వివరణ ==, == వర్గీకరణ ==).
- Write neutral, natural, encyclopedic prose in the target language.
2. Neutrality & Tone: Maintain an objective, scientific tone using established regional terminology.
- Begin with a clear lead supported by the source.
3. Citations: Support factual claims with simple inline tags (<ref>[URL Page_Title], Publisher, Date.</ref>) and include a references section (<references />).
- Use appropriate sections with standard wikitext headings.
4. Infobox: Build the infobox using standard wiki-table markup, translating labels into the target language using data strictly from the source.
- Match the article's depth to the available source material; do not pad it.
- Preserve numbers, units, scientific names, and the strength of the source's claims.
- Use consistent scientific terminology.
- Add an infobox only if appropriate and supported by the source.

Wikitext Preservation (when the source is wikitext):
References:
- Keep all File/image names unchanged; translate only captions.
- Preserve existing references when translating.
- Keep all <ref> tags, URLs, authors, and publication titles intact.
- For new references, use only bibliographic details actually supplied.

- Do not invent an online URL for an offline source.
- Use <ref>...</ref> for inline citations.
- Include <references /> in the references section when citations are used.

Output: Return only the finished wikitext, followed by a short list of any editorial comments or unresolved gaps.
When translating wikitext:
</pre>
- Preserve media filenames, reference names, URLs, and technical markup.
</div>
- Translate prose, headings, captions, and visible table labels.
- Do not translate template names or parameter keys unless a verified local equivalent is supplied.
- Do not invent local link targets, categories, or interlanguage prefixes.
- Flag unresolved technical elements for human review.

SCIWIKI · INTERNSHIP GUIDE
Science Article Development & Review Internship
Help build trusted science knowledge in Indian languages. Review, enrich, and translate science articles with AI assistance and careful human review.
Languages: Telugu (తెలుగు) · Hindi (हिन्दी) · Tamil (தமிழ்) · Bengali (বাংলা) · Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ) · Gujarati (ગુજરાતી) · Marathi (मराठी)
Pilot project

Overview

As a SciWiki intern, you will review, enrich, and translate science articles for SciWiki in the seven pilot languages listed above. This guide explains how to use AI assistance while maintaining factual integrity. Every article must be based on supplied source material and checked by a human editor.

Drafting, translation and structure
Create or translate clear introductions, organize articles into sections, prepare infoboxes where appropriate, and check scientific terminology and transliteration.
Quality, formatting and metadata
Correct translation errors, check facts and references, format the article in wikitext, and verify categories, links, images, and tables.
1. Gather sources
Collect the approved PDFs, images, text files, or existing wikitext. Check that the material is readable and identify the relevant pages or sections. No source means no article.
2. Prepare the prompt
Enter the subject, target language, and task in the master prompt below. Attach the source material before asking the AI to draft or translate.
3. Verify the draft
Compare every claim, name, number, unit, and citation with the source. Remove unsupported statements and flag unclear passages.
4. Review the language
Correct literal translations, check scientific terms, and make the prose natural and consistent without changing its meaning.
5. Preview and submit
Check the lead, headings, references, images, tables, categories, and links. Complete the checklist and submit the draft for review before publication where required by the project.

Core operational guidelines

1. Work only from supplied sources

  • Use only the source material provided for the task.
  • If no source is supplied, stop and request it.
  • Do not add facts from memory or let the AI fill gaps with outside knowledge.
  • Keep a record of the source pages or sections supporting the article.

2. Preserve wikitext and references

  • Keep image and media filenames unchanged. Translate captions and descriptive alternative text where appropriate.
  • Preserve reference tags, reference names, URLs, authors, and publication details.
  • Preserve table structure, template names, and technical parameter keys unless a verified SciWiki equivalent is required.
  • Translate visible prose and labels without changing their meaning.
